Despite his tender years, Jett Lawrence has already notched up a number of firsts*. But something tells us becoming the first Aussie to win the MXoN’s Open class Overall this year – and doing so in his maiden professional race aboard a 450 – is an achievement the Sunshine Coast kid they call Jettson will never forget.
And that’s exactly why one of Jett’s major sponsors, Red Bull, created this epic behind-the-scenes video of that memorable MXoN weekend at America’s iconic Red Bud MX track. Enjoy!
Jett Lawrence’s firsts:
- 2021: The first Aussie to ever win the AMA 250MX Pro Motocross title, and the youngest ever AMA four-stroke champion. Incidentally, Jett’s was only the third 250MX title for Honda in 25 years (since Steve Lamson in 1996).
- By finishing first and third in the 2021 AMA 250MX Pro MX Championship’s final standings, Jett and his older bro, Hunter, became the first brothers in history to finish in the top three of an AMA Pro MX or SX Championship.
- 2022: The first Australian to win an AMA 250SX title since Chad Reed’s historic title way back in 2002!
- 2022: The first Australian to ever win the MXoN’s Open-class Overall (which spearheaded Team Australia’s podium finish – the Aussies’ first MXoN podium since 2011).
Speaking of a Lawrence brother making a name for himself at the MXoN, don’t forget that, back in 2018, the then 19-year-old Hunter Lawrence finished second Overall in the MX2 class.
