HUSKY EXTENDS WITH DE WOLF & NESTAAN

Kay de Wolf joined the Husqvarna Factory Racing program as a 13-year-old and has climbed all the way to an MX2 World Championship – and now, along with team operator Nestaan, he’s committed to the outfit for years to come.

While plenty of factory teams spend the mid-season stretch fielding phones and fending off silly-season rumours, Husqvarna has quietly gone the other way – re-signing the two pieces that matter most and taking the guesswork out of its future. The Dutchman Kay de Wolf isn’t just any signing. He rocked up to the Husqvarna program as a promising 13-year-old, worked his way up through the ranks, and turned that faith into an MX2 World Championship. Locking him in – alongside Nestaan, the operation that has run the official Husqvarna Factory Racing effort since 2020 – is the sort of long-game move that keeps a benchmark team a benchmark team. Husqvarna Factory Racing is pleased to announce new multi-year agreements with both Nestaan and reigning MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf, extending one of the most successful partnerships in modern motocross and reaffirming the brand’s long-term commitment to the FIM Motocross World Championship.

De Wolf’s story with Husqvarna Factory Racing began eight years ago when he joined the programme as a promising 13-year-old talent. Since then, the Dutchman has progressed through the ranks to become one of the sport’s leading riders, culminating in his outstanding MX2 World Championship title.

Nestaan’s relationship with Husqvarna stretches back to the manufacturer’s return to the FIM Motocross World Championship. After initially supporting the factory effort, the Dutch company assumed responsibility for operating the official Husqvarna Factory Racing team in 2020. That partnership reached new heights during a landmark 2024 season, when Husqvarna Factory Racing secured both the MX2 Riders’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships, claimed victory in 16 of the season’s 20 Grands Prix and finished first and second in the final MX2 standings.

Alongside de Wolf, Liam Everts races in MX2 and remains under contract through the 2027 season, providing continuity as the team continues its pursuit of Grand Prix victories. With de Wolf, Everts and Nestaan all signed on, Husqvarna heads into the next few seasons with about as settled a line-up as you’ll find in the MXGP paddock – and no shortage of ambition to keep the titles coming.
