2025 WORLD SX CHAMPIONS CROWNED

A three-way championship decider fell the way of Jason Anderson in South Africa, as the Pipes Motorsport rider clinched his first SX1 title in Cape Town at the final round of the 2025 World Supercross Championship. With just one-point dividing Suzuki’s Anderson and Quadlock Honda’s Joey Savatgy and Christian Craig, the first-ever WSX South African GP was set to be one to watch. Anderson clasped the title in the third and final race, going 1-1-1 in front of Savatgy as the pair scraped plastics.

While Savatgy came in as a seasoned World Supercross campaigner compared to his rivals, Anderson was the WSX rookie as well as a fresh recruit to the Pipes Motorsport team and the Suzuki RM-Z450 machinery. Craig was also a newcomer to World Supercross and still with a point to prove in SX1/450SX competition, as he took third overall in the championship.

“Man, that’s racing! Joey kept me on my toes. Two 8’s and a 12: that’s a lot of intense racing. I’m pretty exhausted but I just want to thank the team. It’s cool to win this for Suzuki and for Pipes Motorsports and all my guys. I’m excited.”

British ace Max Anstie claimed the SX2 World Championship after finishing second to Quadlock Honda’s Shane McElrath in Cape Town. Thanks to the Yamaha rider’s points haul and win streak (11 race victories in a row) across the previous rounds, Anstie conquered the series for the second time in his career with 2024 SX2 Champion McElrath behind him and Coty Schock in third.

“Pretty awesome! it’s been a great season and so cool to be able to visit all these countries and be a part of this world championship. I cannot give it up enough to my wife and little son and the whole Star Yamaha crew back in America. The bike never missed a beat and, of course, Serge and all the guys at the GSM team here. It’s awesome to make this whole collaboration work. Supercross felt like such a dream … and it took me so long to get to the top. I’m in a solid spot in my career.”
