DUCATI REVEALS OFF-ROAD TUNING APP

Ducati is widely regarded as leaders in the field when it comes to electronics for their road and adventure motorcycles – thanks largely to the adopting of the Italian brand’s cutting-edge MotoGP technology. So, it was only a matter of time before this tech would find its way onto Ducati’s new and growing range of off-road models – both the MX and enduro machines, which were recently announced at the EICMA show in Europe.

Sure enough, last week saw Ducati unveil an all-new smartphone tuning app, called “X-Link”, that’s designed specifically for the Desmo450 MX and Enduro off-road models.

“The Ducati Com-Link (DCL) Wi-Fi module allows the Ducati X-Link app to communicate with your Ducati off-road bike, transforming your smartphone into an extension of the bike,” Ducati marketing team explained. “This app allows you to customise the set-up of your Ducati off-road model simply and intuitively, providing the perfect support for your off-road adventures. The X-Link app is dedicated to Ducati’s portfolio of off-road models (always consult the list of compatible bikes on the Ducati website). The app is available for free on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for smartphones with Android 10.0 or higher and iOS 16.6 or later.”

As explained in detail on Ducati’s website, the main features of the X-Link app include: Riding Mode Management, Bike Monitoring, Service Check and Suspension Management.

With the Ducati X-Link app, you can quickly and easily customise and monitor your Ducati off-road bike, in particular:

  • Customise the two riding modes by setting throttle response, engine brake, Ducati traction control and launch control;
  • Display key data directly on your smartphone, such as engine rpm, throttle position, temperature and air pressure;
  • Monitor engine hours and the three counters oil, Mid and Full Service (maintenance at Ducati Service are automatically saved in the Ducati database, but not by the Ducati X-Link);
  • Suggest the most appropriate suspension set-up for the rider’s weight, experience level and type of terrain; and
  • Keep track of your maintenance operations, your suspension set-ups, the final sprocket ratio.
