TEAM AUSTRALIA PODIUMS AT 2025 ISDE

The 2025 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) wound up in Bergamo, Italy, with Australia’s three Trophy teams pushing hard until the very end of the oldest event on the FIM off-road calendar. The traditional Day 6 cross test finale didn’t alter the pecking order from Day 5, with the MXstore-backed Team Australia finishing with two brilliant podiums: second in the Women’s World Trophy (Jess Gardiner, Danielle McDonald and Madison Healey) and third in the Junior World Trophy (Kyron Bacon, Angus Riordan and Korey McMahon).

In the extraordinarily competitive Senior World Trophy, Team Australia (Daniel Milner, Josh Strang, Jonte Reynders and Jye Dickson) finished off sixth overall after a challenging campaign in the searching, and sometimes saturated, trails around Bergamo.

Home soil Team Italy claimed the double in the World and Junior World Trophies, just as the country did at the 2021 ISDE in Bergamo. The United States has now won the Women’s World Trophy for the sixth time, drawing equal with Australia.

Yamaha’s Danielle McDonald and Jess Gardiner, alongside last-minute replacement and KTM-mounted Madison Healy, gave Australia another podium in the history books with their second place team finish. McDonald’s performance was a stand, as she had some unfinished business with the ISDE after the 2024 event where she rode under injury. McDonald was never outside the Top 5 in the Women’s class for the events entirety and finished in third place in the Women’s Outright.

“It was so good to get through the week and as a team finish on the podium,” McDonald said after
racing. “We had so many things thrown at us this week, but every day the girls kept turning up and giving it our best and we were able to fight our way to second place, which is awesome. Thanks to Team Australia for all the effort that goes on behind the scenes, for Jess and Madi for being the best team mates and to Yamaha Australia who not just support me, but women in racing as well. Let’s win this thing next year.”

For Gardiner, it was her 13th ISDE and another remarkable achievement in her career. “I’m so proud of what we achieved this week. In the past two years I have seen Danielle go from a local junior to one of the best riders in the world and poor Madi was thrown in at the deep end for her first ISDE and did an amazing job in very tough conditions. But through it all, we finished second as a team and made some memories that will last a life time. Now I just need some rest and come back to Australia to be ready for the next round of AEC in Kyogle.”

In the individual rankings, Bacon and his Kawasaki were an irrepressible force in the ISDE, with the Tassie livewire fourth on Day 6 and sixth overall in the event – keeping world enduro legends like Josep Garcia (KTM) and Andrea Verona (GASGAS) on their toes. The result will give Bacon, who was also second overall in the E2 class, extra confidence when he returns to EnduroGP world championship action for the final three rounds in Portugal, Italy and Germany.

Strang (Beta), Riordan (KTM) and Milner also finished top 10 in their respective classes – E3, E1 and E2. The final outright individual standings saw Garcia clinch an unprecedented fifth consecutive victory, ahead of Verona, Samuele Bernardini (Honda), Mikael Persson (Triumph), Morgan Lesiardo (Triumph) and Bacon. Garcia also won the E1 class, while the E2 and E3 classes were won by Verona and Julien Roussaly (Sherco). American Brandy Richards (KTM) was the fastest Women’s World Trophy rider, extending her final margin with a phenomenal cross test.

The 100th FIM ISDE will be held in Portugal from October 12-17, 2026.
