REVEALED: 2026 YAMAHA YZ-F & WR-F

We’re not even at the end of the 2025 financial year, and yet Yamaha has charged out of the gates this week, revealing the imagery and upgrade details of their 2026-model off-road model ranges. We’ll bring you a more detailed insight into the specific mods in the weeks ahead. But for now, here’s a top-line summary of what’s new in Yamaha’s 2026 knobby-wearing models…

For 2026, Yami’s off-road range is spearheaded by an extensive update to its flagship YZ450F motocross model. There’s also a handful of key updates to the two-stroke YZ125, and four stunning new 70th Anniversary Edition YZ models to celebrate the 1955 birth of the Yamaha Motor Company.

“In commemoration of seven decades of motorsports excellence, Yamaha is proud to introduce a new 70th Anniversary Edition colour scheme for YZ125, YZ250, YZ250F and YZ450F,” reads YMA’s PR. “These models will come adorned in a modern take on Yamaha’s iconic white and red speed block livery, combining with the sleek, aggressive YZ bodywork for a standout look sure to draw attention on any starting gate.”

After ‘new platform’ overhauls to the WR450F and WR250F in 2024 and 2025, respectively, there’s been no major changes to the Aussie favourite WR-F range for 2026 – other than what Yamaha claims is “a world-first lockable ECU that prevents the engine being started and ridden away”. This anti-theft initiative extends across the range of 2026 YZ-F four-strokes, WR-F and FX models.

Meantime, Yamaha’s 2026 off-road competition and fun bike models all receive an updated graphics package.

2026 OFF-ROAD MODELS – HIGHLIGHTS

  • All-new YZ450F is easier to ride longer with new frame, revised suspension, engine updates and body refinements.
  • Updated YZ125 with more linear power and enhanced rideability.
  • Four-mode traction control for YZ450FX.
  • Industry-first anti-theft ECU lock function on all YZ-F/WR-F four-strokes.
  • 70th Anniversary colour schemes for YZ125, YZ250, YZ250F and YZ450F.
