THE AORC OUTRIGHT BATTLE

1 year ago | Words: Matt Bernard | Photos: Foremost Media

As the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) prepares for this weekend’s Rounds 5 and 6 at Edenhope, Victoria, anticipation among riders and fans alike reaches a fever pitch. With the midway point of the season fast approaching, the battleground is set. In his return to racing in Australia, KTM’s Daniel Milner is setting the pace. Not even a broken collarbone prior to the third and fourth rounds of the AORC has slowed his performance in 2024. If Milner maintains this level of performance, he’s poised to match Toby Price’s impressive record of five Outright AORC titles. Achieving this would mark 11 years since Milner first claimed the Outright No.1 plate back in 2013, when he also became the first 250cc rider to ever win the AORC’s Outright title (aboard a Yamaha back then). Can he do it?

As the focus shifts to Edenhope, eyes are on the Outright points leader board who will battle for supremacy on the unforgiving terrain. Despite the Outright points table not being publicised with regular PR, we have knocked up the easy-to-navigate table you will see below. Daniel Milner is leading the charge, pursued by Kyron Bacon (Yamaha), Korey McMahon (GASGAS), Andy Wilksch (Beta), and Will Dennett (Yamaha).

ROUND 3 AND 4 WRAP UP

Victoria’s Mount Misery proved to be a formidable adversary for racers in Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2024 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship, presented by MXstore (AORC).

Round 3 saw patient racers emerge victorious, with Kyron Bacon (E1), Daniel Milner (E2), Riley McGillivray (E3), Jess Gardiner (EW), and Kogan Lock (EJ) claiming top honours in their respective classes. In a points shake-up, Jonte Reynders weathered a mechanical setback, affecting his E2 title hopes.

In Round 4, the stakes were higher as riders faced new challenges at Mount Misery. Korey McMahon (E1), Daniel Milner (E2), Riley McGillivray (E3), Danielle McDonald (EW), and Jett Yarnold (EJ) rose to the occasion. In a big shake-up to the E1 points score, a mechanical mishap hampered E1 series leader Kyron Bacon’s overall finish.
