2023 EAST COAST MX SERIES – ROUND 4

3 years ago | Words: Michel Constantinou | Photos: MXPHOTO

The penultimate round of the Finance My Bike East Coast MX Series was held at the new Goulburn Motorcycle Club facility. It was a level playing field for most of the riders because the facility had not been open for very long, making this their first competitive event. In the junior classes, Flynn Burgess on his Cobra 50cc swept all three motos to win in the 7-u9 50cc class, with Stella Harding, the leader of the Juniors Girls championship, coming in second on her KTM, marking her best result of the season so far. In the 12-u16 85cc class, the newly signed GasGas rider Max Compton also swept all three motos, claiming the overall win and extending his championship lead.

Kayd Kingsford, a Yamaha GYTR rider, returned to form by dominating all six races in both the 125cc and 250cc Junior Lites classes. Moving on to the senior classes, KTM rider Rory Fairbrother made a comeback after recovering from an injury and performed exceptionally well in the MX2 Pro class. Honda rider Ben Novak excelled in the MX Open class, while the championship leader, Yamaha rider Cooper Holroyd, who was nursing a knee injury, secured second place overall but most importantly wrapped up the MX Open championship with one round remaining. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan for Cooper Holroyd on Sunday as he crashed out of the first moto in the MX1 class, providing championship rival Josh Whitehead, a KTM rider, the opportunity to take the lead.

Promoter Michel Constantinou commented, “It was special to be the first event ever held at the new Goulburn facility. I would like to extend my gratitude to the club for their substantial investment of time, money, and effort in preparing the venue. In my opinion, the track meets international standards, and it would be fantastic if Goulburn could host an MXGP in the near future.”

Congratulations to the Round 4 winners of the Finance My Bike East Coast MX at Goulburn Motorcycle Club.
