KTM’S 890 ADV R: HOW IT’S BUILT

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: KTM Images

As the first adventure bike to be fitted with suspension that was a match for its power and weight, KTM’s 790/890 Adventure R has been a game-changer for the mid-weight adventure bike market. The model quickly earned itself a reputation as the segment’s most off-road capable machine and, as a result – particularly in Australia, where adventure riders are more skewed to off-road performance – it’s proved to be a huge sales success. And for 2023, the 890 Adventure R has received the most significant upgrades it’s ever seen – sweeping mods to suspension, bodywork, fuel tank, electronics, instrumentation, ABS technology and navigation system.

So, have you ever wondered what it takes to assembly one of these state-of-the-art machines on KTM’s production line in Mattighofen, Austria? What does the production line even look like? How many pairs of skilled hands does it take to complete the finished product? And how long does it take?

Well, kick back and feast your eyes on this fascinating timelapse video – a 90-second visual insight into the process of assembling a 2023-model KTM 890 Adventure R…
