TWO WORLD TITLES IN ONE WEEKEND FOR GAGSAS

Last weekend, France’s final round of the 2021 FIM Enduro World Championship proved to be a very happy hunting ground for GASGAS, with team riders Andrea Verona and Laia Sanz both wrapping up historic world titles for the now KTM-owned brand in their respective classes.

Andrea Verona, the 22-year-old who signed for GASGAS Factory Racing at the beginning of the season, polished off a stellar year with back-to-back wins over the weekend aboard his EC250F. During the 12-round season, he nabbed 10 wins and never finished off the podium. And his standout performance at the season finale also saw the young Italian secure third-place result in the year’s EnduroGP (Overall/Scratch) standings, behind Beta’s Brad Freeman and KTM’s Josep Garcia.

And how about Laia Sanz?! Just a couple of weeks after clinching the TrialGP Women World Championship for GASGAS, the super-talented Spanish all-rounder went 1-1 in France, taking her EC350F to the top of the timesheets in 11 of the 13 special tests over the weekend to wrap up her sixth EnduroGP Women class world title in style.

Laia Sanz: “It’s been an amazing weekend and I’m really happy. Coming into this final round, I had a small advantage at the top of the standings, so I knew that two good days should be enough to take the championship. After winning yesterday, my lead going into today was even greater, so I was able relax – maybe too much on the first test. I felt good and so I pushed a little harder on the second lap. But anyway, to get the title is amazing and of course, this season I have won two, so it has been a fantastic year.”
