Andre Villa broke femur at Poland X-Fighters
X-Fighters tour leader, Andre Villa, has broken his femur while doing a backflip in Qualifying at the fifth round of the X-Fighters in Poznan, Poland.
Villa’s bike under-rotated while attempting a backflip and he went face first into the ground. The 29-year-old was very lucky to avoid serious injuries when his bike narrowly missing him after getting his foot stuck in the gear shifter.
Villa posted on Twitter that this was the “biggest crash I ever had,” and has undergone surgery to get a rod inserted. The FMX star joked around saying, “there isn’t much space for rods in my body.”
The Norwegian came into the Red Bull X-Fighters penultimate round in a solid position, with a five point lead. He’ll now have to sit out the final round in Sydney on September 17.
USA’s Nate Adams has taken the championship lead after beating fellow rival Dany Torres at Poland. It wasn’t all smooth sailing though, with Adams complaining about the same jump that Villa crashed on, “the bike was under-rotating on the long jump and I came down on the front wheel.” This begs the question, was there something wrong with the jump? Was it built incorrectly?
