King of MX Final Heads to Nowra

Originally slated to be the first major race meet for Goulburn’s brand-new motocross facility, the Goulburn Motorcycle Club has advised that, due to factors out of their control, they can not guarantee the venue will be in a position to host the King of MX Final. Motorcycling NSW has acted quickly, securing the support of the Nowra Motorcycle Club to host the final on the June long weekend.

MNSW CEO, Dave Cooke: “It’s unfortunate that we can’t take Australia’s richest motocross race to Goulburn. There’s a lot of people excited to race the new track, visible from the Hume Highway. However, with the Council and a few other external matters slowing the final stages of completion, we don’t have much choice but to change the venue. I want to thank the Goulburn Club for not only putting up their hand to host the final in the first place, but also for coming to us as soon as they thought the venue might not be ready in time, allowing us to find a new venue as early as possible. I also want to thank the Nowra Motorcycle Club for so readily accepting the opportunity to host the second King of MX Final in Nowra. It’s a lot of time, effort and hard work to host an event of this size, but we know the team at Nowra is capable of helping us put on the best event possible.”

Nowra Motorcycle Club President, Brad Harvie: “When we got a call to discuss the King of MX Final, we instantly offered to help out. Building race tracks isn’t as easy as some people might think, so we understand the position the Goulburn Club is in right now, and can appreciate the need to secure a new venue for an event the size of the King of MX Final as soon as possible. We have the facilities and we’re excited to host the final, after holding a qualifier event in 2018.”

King of MX Final: June 8-10 Nowra

Racers need to enter one of the six qualifier events where the top six or seven finishers in each class earn their Golden Ticket to the final. Once a rider has qualified, they can still ride the other qualifier events, but they can’t win another Golden Ticket, giving even more riders a chance to qualify. At the final, State Title Champions will be decided over three motos for each class.
