2019 East Coast MX: Dates & Key Info
The ever so favourable East Coast MX (ECMX) series is back for another year in 2019. After what was a great season of racing in 2018, we are keen to see what the 2019 season has to offer. The East Coast MX series is an awesome way to get stuck into a proper race format for the first time, and also give you a chance to not only sit on the sidelines, but also rub bars with some of Australia’s best motocross racers in the premier classes. Even if you don’t enter and decide to get dirty, it’s a great series to follow with your mates or your family, with plenty of action at each round. Here’s all the official information from ECMX Series Promoter, Race Paces’ Michel Constantinou…
The East Coast MX Series presented by Transmoto is in its eighth year of competition and is regarded by most as the premier junior/senior amateur series in NSW. The opening round of the championship kicks off this weekend 23-24 February at Lakes Motorcycle Club in the Newcastle area. Free spectator entry all weekend. A great way to spend the weekend with your family watching some exciting motorcycle racing.
Round 1: Lakes on February 23-24
Round 2: Maitland March 23-24
Round 3: Hastings Valley May 25-26
Round 4: Dubbo June 29-30
Round 5: Cessnock August 17-18
ECMX Series Promoter, Michel Constantinou: “The racing is held over two days with the juniors under 12 years old, Pro classes and Senior Women riding on Saturday, and the juniors over 12 years old, Clubman classes and Vets riding on Sunday. There is availability for 40 riders in each class at selected rounds, and 30 riders in each class at the other venues. We are continuously looking at ways to improve the series, but careful not to change things that are already working. Every year we change at least one venue, in 2019 we have included Cessnock into the series. Nippers (4-9 years 50cc) normally ride Saturday, but we have made room in the program so that they could ride both days. Normally Vets and Senior Women race together, but we moved Senior Women to Saturday in their own class, and Vets stay on their own for Sunday. We have also created a bonus points system in the Vets class to try and encourage some of the old fellas to come back to racing. Basically, Vets riders receive a bonus point for every year that they are over the age of 35 added to their overall points total at the end of race day.”
