2018 Husqvarna MXers Unveiled
For 2018, Husqvarna Motorcycles has announced updates to their two- and four-stroke motocross models, and an all-new TC85. But just how different are Husqvarna’s full-size machines? Well, seeing as Husky introduced a completely new-generation of TC and FC models for 2016, the 2018 bikes are more about refinement than reinvention. But with a new frame, suspension and engine, the 2018 TC85 is genuinely a ground-up rebuild.

SHARED UPDATES FOR 2018
- The front and rear Brembo brakes get new calipers, master cylinders, brakelines and pads (only the brake discs remain unchanged).
- The bodywork gets different-coloured trim and fresh graphics.
- A new extra-grip seat cover.
Plus all four-stroke models are fitted with a new 2.2Ah Lithium-Ion battery for better output and starting consistency, while the TC125 and TC250 get updated settings for their Mikuni carbs.
THE ALL-NEW 2018 TC85
Introducing much of the technology found across Husqvarna’s range of full-size motocross machines, the 2018 TC85 comes with an all-new engine, frame and suspension; a machine that appears intent on raising the bar in the ultra-competitive 85cc class. The engine runs the same bore and stroke as its predecessor, but an all-new cylinder, ports and power-valve mechanism combine to deliver broader and more controllable power. The new frame (designed with increased torsional rigidity and less longitudinal stiffness) is claimed to enhance agility and high-speed stability, and it’s suspended by a new WP AER 43 split air and oil fork, and a specific version of the new WP XPlor PDS shock – higher-spec componentry that should offer a significant gain in suspension performance and allow for simpler, easier adjustability (via the single air pressure valve for fork preload and easy-access compression and rebound clickers).

According to Husqvarna Australia’s National Brand Manager, Jon Hafey, the 2018 machines will start arriving in Australian dealers in August, at RRPs that will soon be announced.
