2017 East Coast MX Series: Rd 2 Results

9 years ago | Photos: MXphoto

Clear skies and sunny weather along with awesome track conditions in Canberra, and close to 400 race entries set the stage for Round 2 of the East Coast MX Series presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine. WA Riders Kyle Webster, Jayden Rykers and Jessica Moore invaded NSW for the top spots on the podium, with Webster and Rykers claiming the top 2 spots in the Pro Lites, and Jessica Moore finishing 2nd to Tori Dare in the Senior Women. The CRF Honda Team dominated the Pro classes with Joel Wightman (Pro Open) and Kyle Webster (Pro Lites) sweeping all 4 motos in their respective classes. However Webster had to earn every race win because Rykers was hounding him in every race. Husqvarna’s rising rookie star Riley Dukes claimed his best finish of the Series standing 3rd on the Pro Lites podium. Blake Fox continued his dominance in the stacked field of the 12-u14 85cc class. Fox being a year younger than his main rivals just shows his level of talent, and it must be a worry for his competitors. Local boys Connor and Jarrod Whitney stood 1 and 2 on top of the podium in the 14-u16 85cc class, with Connor Whitney also winning the feature race 12-u16 85cc Eliminator. Dante Hyam returned from a shoulder injury after missing the first round to win the younger 125cc class. CRF Honda rider Rhys Budd suffered a broken wrist and had to miss Rnd 2 in Canberra, but there was still a fierce battle for top honours between Johnny Bova and Hayden Matterson. Both riders sharing the top of the podium in the older 125cc and 250cc 4-stroke classes.
