FMX Insider No.47: #WhipItWednesday
Transmoto’s weekly web-exclusive column, the FMX Insider, penned by Ben Heidrich.
It’s that time of the week again – Whip It Wednesday! I’ve compiled a few shots of FMX and even motocross riders who have been keeping it sideways weekly.
Todd Potter is known worldwide for his epic whip style, laying it super flat and then getting underneath the bike before wrapping it back around. Potter is a four-time Best Whip medalist at X Games. I took these shots while he practiced in California before the 2015 Austin edition of X. Potter went on to score a Bronze for his mean efforts.
Most motocross riders have their whips on lock and have plenty of style to follow – Victoria’s Dylan Long is a perfect example of that. I was blown away by Long’s whips and turn-ups at the Australian Speed and Style Championships in Tasmania last year. He was really putting on a show for the FMX riders. Here’s a few shots from Park4MX taken by DMT Visuals.
Kawasaki’s Lance Russell featured in the last Whip It Wednesday article I wrote because I love his whip style. Here he is practicing hard at home while his old man, Geoff Russell, snapped the shots. I heard there may be a Best Whip comp at the AUS-X Open in Sydney later this year – who thinks he should enter?
Until next time! Keep it flat and sideways!
