2015 Conondale Cup: Entries Extended
Sadly, Conondale’s iconic Green Park circuit might not be on the MX Nats race calendar in 2015, but with entries for this weekend’s 2015 KTM Conondale Cup extended by special demand, you’ve still got the chance to have a crack at the epic rolling grass hills of its natural terrain layout. Yep, the accommodating crew from the Sunshine Coast Motorcycle Club (SCMCC) have not only extended the entries for a few days; they’re actually allowing racers to rock up and nominate at the track on the Saturday of the event!
According to the SCMCC’s Steve Harrison, “The KTM Conondale Cup is about resurrecting the ‘standalone’ open motocross event. In time, the club hopes that ‘The Cup’ will become part of an annual tri-state natural motocross series. The Cup pays prize money back to 10th for both the 250 and 450cc classes, and also caters to Vets, Clubman and Junior riders. And for those who love the sound of a screaming two-stroke, the Under 200cc class has been resurrected this year. Anyone who rides in one of the Senior classes can quality for the feature race, which pays $1000 for the win,” explained Harrison.
“The track layout is of MX Nationals standard, but the emphasis for this event is on regular riders who want to have a good time, ride the iconic Green Park circuit, and perhaps pick up some prize money or prizes on the way. Free camping in a natural forest and creek setting, hot showers and daytime food are all available at the picturesque circuit,” Harrison went on to say.
