2022 DAKAR: A SMORGASBORD OF LANDSCAPES

4 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: ASO

You’ve got to hand it to the ancient Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, home to the Dakar Rally for the past two years. Its landscapes are about as majestic and mesmerising and varied as you’ll see anywhere in the world. And they’re somehow made even more beautiful when a bike, car, truck, quad or side-by-side is doing its best to navigate through Saudi’s vast, often-inhospitable terra firma. They offer a sense of scale to this alien rock- and sand-strewn world, and serve as a reminder of just how gruelling Dakar is on man and machine.

So, if you didn’t catch this year’s race on the Dakar website or via SBS’s superb daily highlights packages, do yourself a favour and check out this incredible selection of vision, which showcases the best landscapes of the 2022 Dakar Rally.

PS: This same link takes you through to five-minute highlights packages for bikes, plus all the other entry classes.
