Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing team announced

The Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing team has been announced. Team owner, former national champion and MX1 racer Todd Waters leads the charge, alongside MX2 racer Blake Fox.

At 32 years of age, Waters is not foreign to national championship success with Husqvarna, capturing the national MX1 title in 2019. The ever-motivated Queenslander finished third in last year’s standings and his assault for the upcoming season will take on the added responsibility of operating the Gold Coast-based effort with his cousin, Jason Waters.

Todd Waters, Blake Fox, Jack Mather and Liam Owens form the Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing team.

Despite limited time on the bike in the pre-season while recovering from injuries sustained at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) last year, Waters has been immediately comfortable onboard the latest Husqvarna premier class platform and will look to build as the season unfolds.

Todd Waters: “The pre-season has been a lot different to other pre-seasons for me. I obviously worked a lot on my base fitness in the past, but this year I was in a sling for much of it. I’ve been on the bike now four weeks and we’ve got an all-new FC450, so while I have missed some seat time on the bike, luckily I hopped on it and felt positive straight away – it has definitely got some positives for me personally, where we have got a bit more feel in the front-end. While I haven’t got time under my belt with racing, I’m feeling happy with the chassis and our suspension set-up. I have brought on Dale [Hocking], who I won the championship with in 2019, as our engine builder and am absolutely stoked with its performance. I’m ready to get back racing and excited to build through the year.”

Joining Husqvarna Motorcycles in 2023 is 22-year-old Blake Fox, who had his debut MX2 season brought to a premature end with a knee injury last year. The 2021 ProMX MX3 class champion has found a new home in Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing as he looks to further showcase his abilities on the national stage.

Blake Fox: “It’s obviously a really good opportunity to have Todd alongside me and also to be riding within his team, so the pre-season has been good – I get along great with everyone on the team and have been enjoying it a lot. I’m looking forward to Round 1, have been on the bike since the end of December and am feeling as fit – if not fitter – than ever before. The new 2023 FC250 has been unreal so far and now I’m excited to get to Wonthaggi and to start the ProMX season.”

Also part of the Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing team are MX3 duo Jack Mather and Liam Owens, the emerging young racers receiving assistance in a development-type role within the program aboard their FC250s this season.

Kyle Blunden (KTM Group Australia Motorsport Manager): “We’re so excited to see the Raceline Husqvarna Berry Sweet Racing Team come together. Todd and Jason have put an incredible amount of effort into assembling the best team possible in which they can then bring the next generation of Husqvarna racers up through the ranks. With Todd’s experience both on and off the bike, he’s a fantastic role model for Blake and the rest of the team. The whole team have done an incredible job and we’re proud to partner with Raceline Performance to bring this new racing team to the paddock in 2023.”

The scheduled eight-round 2023 Australian ProMX Championship will commence this Sunday, March 5, at Wonthaggi, Victoria.
