New Venue Revealed: 2024 Transmoto 8-Hour @ Macleay Valley, NSW
It’s official, folks; the Transmoto 8-Hour event scheduled for October has been relocated from Coffs Harbour to all all-new venue in the Macleay Valley, which is just 20km out of Kempsey in the Mid North Coast region of NSW. That’s right, the 2024 Transmoto 8-Hour at Macleay Valley will take place on the same October 19-20 weekend, but an hour’s drive south of Coffs.
What? No Ulong? The 8-Hour at Coffs Harbour hasn’t disappeared entirely; it’s just taking a gap-year to allow the venue to fully recover, having hosted a Transmoto 8-Hour since 2019. And after taking a fair rip around the new property in recent months, we can confirm the Macleay Valley venue is a worthy substitute.
Staged on a 650-acre patch of fertile terra firma, the Transmoto 8-Hour at Macleay Valley, powered by KTM Australia, boasts some of the loamiest (and rock-free!) alluvial soil on Australia’s eastern seaboard, with its 16km race loop weaving through a mesmerising 60/40 combo of tree-lined trail and flowing grasstrack. Combined with average daily min/max temps of 11/25º in October, the joint just screams ‘come ride me!’. Yep, this Macleay Valley property is so good, it’ll soon forge its own reputation as a must-do annual Transmoto event.
The Macleay Valley region itself – originally established as a timber and dairy hub, and famous for being home to Aussie icons, Slim Dusty and the Akubra hat – retains many of its historic buildings as a vestige of its past. These days, the area is best known for its wineries, its picturesque townships and eateries on the banks of the Macleay River, its abundance of national parks, and its proximity to the beautiful beaches of the Macleay Valley Coast.
So, if you like what you hear, get on the dog-and-bone to your riding posse because, with entries strictly capped at just 500 riders, we reckon this historic first running of the event will sell out in no time flat.
We are also excited to announce that the 2024 Transmoto 8-Hour at Macleay Valley will include a non-competitive, 6km fun loop for Juniors (boys and girls, aged nine to 15) and Ladies (aged 16+) on Saturday, October 19.
