KYRON BACON IMPRESSES IN EUROPE

2 years ago | Words: Matt Bernard | Photos: YMA/AORC

ShopYamaha’s Kyron Bacon has once again turned heads on the World Enduro scene with two impressive rides at the Italian round of the EnduroGP World Championship over the weekend. Competing in the J1 class for riders under 23 on 250cc machines, the young Aussie and AORC’s 2022 Outright Champion finished fifth in his class on day one, despite crashing in a couple of tests and receiving a one-minute time penalty. He rebounded strongly on day two, taking second in the class and finishing the weekend GP in third Overall.

The tests always prove challenging, and combined with the dry and rocky conditions, Bacon showed he is at a world-class level and able to perform well in the most trying conditions.

“I think my speed is pretty good in these conditions and I was able to win a few tests over the weekend, which is good going forward. To be a contender for the J1 win, I just need to be a bit more consistent across all the tests and reduce any mistakes I make because at this level, even the smallest moment can cost you time and positions.

“But we are having a great time over here and looking forward to the next few weeks of racing. It would be nice to win one before I come home,” Kyron offers.

Next stop for the young Tasmanian is a national round in Sweden before returning to the EnduroGP World Championship for a round in Slovakia.
