DANIEL SANDERS BREAKS FEMUR
Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Daniel Sanders has broken his femur while training for his assault on the Finke Desert Race.
Just one month after securing his first-ever FIM World Rally-Raid Championship race victory at the Sonora Rally in Mexico, Sanders binned it during training on his GASGAS RX 450F, resulting in the injury. The broken leg will require a significant recovery period, likely keeping Sanders off the track for several months. However, with the support of his team and medical professionals, he remains determined to make a swift comeback.

Expressing his disappointment, Sanders remarked, “I’m incredibly frustrated and saddened by this turn of events. I was simply enjoying my time on the rally bike when a small crash resulted in a broken leg. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and I’m feeling optimistic about my recovery. Although it will take time before I can ride and race again, I’m committed to doing everything possible to expedite the process. I want to express my gratitude to the team for their unwavering support, and I hope to continue building on our successes from Sonora later this year.”
Norbert Stadlbauer, the Rally Team Manager, expressed his sympathy for Sanders’ untimely injury, particularly following his remarkable performance at the Sonora Rally. The team has faced its fair share of challenges this year, with Sam Sunderland also enduring an injury at the start of the season. Nonetheless, Stadlbauer remains focused on the future and extends his best wishes to Sanders for a speedy recovery. The team eagerly awaits his return to the GASGAS tent and looks ahead to the upcoming Dakar race in January, working diligently to ensure they are fully prepared.
While us Aussie fans would have loved to see Sanders attack the Finke and Hattah Desert Races, young gun Korey McMahon will fly the flag for GASGAS on his MC450F.
