CHARLI CANNON ACHIEVES SEASON-BEST FINISH IN SPAIN

Aussie Charli Cannon made great progress at the third round of the Women’s World Motocross Championship in Spain, achieving an impressive fourth-place finish on her Yamaha YZ250F. After weeks of training back home in Australia, Cannon returned to Europe determined to enhance her skills and results. Upon arriving in Spain, she quickly reconnected with her JK Racing Yamaha Team and got down to business.

Cannon’s weekend started slowly, with her first open practice session being nearly 10 seconds a lap slower than the pace setters. Despite this, she remained unfazed and qualified for P8, reducing the gap to the leaders to three seconds. In race one, Cannon fought her way into the top five, passing a few riders to secure fifth place by the halfway point. However, she fell to eighth place after a tangle with a lapped rider. Disappointed with her result, she knew she needed to do better.

In race two, Cannon came out swinging, taking the lead in the opening laps and increasing her lead over time. However, she lost her lead after failing to do a double jump onto the rollers. She finished the race in fourth place, equaling her best round result so far. Cannon was delighted with the progress she had made, saying, “It felt so good getting to the front and I tried to stay focused and keep doing my laps. I held it as long as I could and ended up in fourth, which was a little disappointing as I really wanted a podium.”

Despite missing out on a podium, Cannon was pleased with her season-best result and currently sits in fifth place in the championship. She thanked her JK Racing Yamaha Team for their support, saying, “Everyone is so supportive we are starting to gel and know how everyone works.” Cannon aims to continue improving and hopes to achieve a podium finish at the next round in France.
