What is it?
The Transmoto 8-Hour is a unique, team-based dirt-bike event that’s somewhere between a recreational trailbike rally and an enduro race. It’s a shorter, punchier, less challenging version of the notorious Transmoto 12-Hour, which has been running since 2011, but still caters to riders of all levels. And, in keeping with the 12-Hour’s successful recipe, the 8-Hour focuses on fun-factor rather than officialdom.
Where is it?
If you Google “Stroud, NSW”, you’ll see a bunch of info about the town’s International Brick and Rolling Pin Throwing Contest. And that small-town obscurity is just the way the locals like it. Cos if they were to spread the word about the region’s rolling grassy hillsides, every dirt-bike dingo this side of Alice Springs would be on its doorstep in an instant! Not far out of Stroud, in a little valley called Gunns Gully, you’ll find a picturesque 1300-acre parcel of prime countryside – a working cattle property that was home to the inaugural Transmoto 6-Hour in 2015. Its custom-built 14km loop takes in an intoxicating blend of gum-lined trails and undulating grasstrack, with 360-degree views that stretch for miles. Yep, the perfect playground for a teams-based dirt-bike event.
When is it?
This year’s Transmoto 8-Hour will take place on the weekend of October 13-14, 2018. Registration starts at noon on Saturday, with racing on the Sunday. Round up your mates, dust off the camping gear, and set the wheels in motion for a weekend worth of roadtripping and riding.
