The 69th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations has come and gone. As the most prestigious MX event on the calendar, it delivered exciting action as always. This year, Team France and Team USA were a full 40 points better than the next best team, Belgium, in third position, who had their hands full with an incredible performance from Team Estonia in fourth. Team Australia, made up of Todd Waters, Dean Ferris and Jay Wilson’s last-minute replacement, Luke Clout, finished in seventh Overall, while Team New Zealand secured eighth thanks to Ben Townley’s mind-blowing performance. Frenchmen, Romain Febvre and Marvin, were the men to beat in their respective Open and MX2 classes, while American Justin Barcia was able to best Gautier Paulin for the MX1 crown. Word on the street is that American rider, Jimmy Decotis, will be heading Down Under to contest the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship in the SX2 class for Penrite Honda, alongside fellow American, Gavin Faith, and US-based Venezuelan champ, Anthony Rodriguez, who are both confirmed to race SX1.

We’re hearing that when Team Motul Suzuki ceases operation at the conclusion of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship, Matt Moss will take his brother Jake’s seat at NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki. There’s been no official word as to whether Adam Monea or Dylan Long will be signing with the team next year, and rumours have linked Dan Reardon talking to the team about 2016 opportunities. With Dean Ferris recently announcing his signing with CDR Yamaha (and JCR Yamaha) at the MXoN and Suzuki shutting down its team, factory backed positions are filling up quickly and we expect to see a lot of talented riders without major sponsorships in 2016.

The 2015 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship is well and truly underway in Bunbury, Western Australia. Qualifying races took place earlier in the week and finals are starting to go down now. Victorian Taylor Potter knows exactly what it takes to pursue a dream. Two years ago, as a Privateer, he sold everything he had just to go and compete in the biggest and most competitive SX competition in the world – the AMA Supercross in the United States. The 25-year-old electrician, from Warranwood in Melbourne, sold literally everything – his house, car, television, even the shirt off his back, just to scrounge up enough money to be able to compete in an entire season overseas. Now, he won’t have to. The aspiring Pro rider has secured a ride with KMP Honda Racing and will compete in this year’s ADAC Supercross series in Germany, starting in November. He’ll still be contesting the opening rounds of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship. To follow Taylor’s progress, visit: www.taylorpotterracing.com

Last year, as a 17-year-old, Victorian off-road racer Tom Mason ran a very respectable third (to Daniel “Chucky” Sanders and Broc Grabham) in the AORC’s Transmoto 19 & Under class. This year, despite being sidelined through injury for two rounds, the Bolton’s KTM rider won the title. We spoke to the quietly spoken youngster about his up-and-down AORC season, and the experience in Slovakia, where he was a member of Australia’s ISDE-winning Junior team.

Have a squizz at this AORC image gallery, showcasing the front-runners of the 2015 Transmoto 19 & Under class.

Factory FMF/KTM rider, Kailub Russell, finished on the podium at the ninth round of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Championship in the USA to clinch the 2015 title and become the first rider in the history of off-road racing to claim the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) and National Enduro Championships in the same season. He and his father, Jeff Russell, also became the first father and son duo that have won championships in the same series.

Did you catch that awesome Motology Films edit we posted earlier in the week, starring Toby Price, Ben Grabham, Glenn Kearney, Tye Simmonds and Adam Riemann? Check it out here if you missed it.

With less than a month remaining until hundreds converge on Tasmania for the 2015 Yamaha Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE), Motorcycling Australia’s media guru, Ben Rowles, took the opportunity to speak with CDR Yamaha’s Chris Hollis and discuss his 2008 A4DE win, and find out what he’s expecting from his 2015 outing in Van Diemen’s Land. You can read the interview here.

In a solid display of support for the Aussie SX stars of tomorrow, the promoter of the two Queensland rounds of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship has announced a massive cut in the event entry fee for Junior Lites and Mini Lites riders. Prices have been slashed back to just $50 per round – and that $50 will cover the direct cost of the rider’s medical levy.

Husband, father and beloved member of the Nitro Circus and action sports family, Erik Roner, passed away earlier this week – the result of a tragic accident which occurred at the opening ceremony of the fourth Annual Squaw Valley Institute Celebrity Golf Classic in Squaw Valley, California. Roner, the third member of a three-man parachute team to jump, according to witnesses, was off the drop zone target on descent and hit a large tree. He was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Our thoughts go out to his loved ones and friends.
