The 2015 Australian MX Nationals came to an end over the weekend at Coolum, with KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs taking the cake in the MX1 class, Altherm JCR Yamaha’s Jay Wilson claiming the MX2 title and GYTR Yamaha’s Wilson Todd taking home the MXD (Under 19s) crown. Detailed results and championship standings can be found via the official MX Nats website: www.mxnationals.com.au

We tip our hats off to Ben Townley, who brought his wealth of speed and experience to the fore at the final round of the MX Nats to go 1-2 for first Overall in the MX1 category. BT101 will now turn his attention to the upcoming MXGP of Glen Helen, and the Motocross of Nations.

Check out Transmoto‘s hot shots from the final round of the 2015 MX Nationals, shot by PureMX owner/operator, Jeremy Hammer.

With the MX Nationals and Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship put to bed for another year, motocross fans now turn their attention to the final MXGP rounds (although Yamaha’s new phenomenon Romain Febvre has now locked up the MXGP title), the Monster Energy Cup, Red Bull Straight Rhythm, the Motocross of Nations and of course, the Australian Supercross Championship, which will see Chad Reed and James Stewart butt heads like the good days of old – provided Chad can commit to flying to Australia out of his own pocket, with no Pro team backing him right now. We hear that prior to A1, Reed wants to have a factory-spec deal in place with Yamaha, Monster Energy and Discount Tire – stay tuned for developments.

Speaking of Febvre, did you know that Monster Energy signed him and his team literally two days before he wrapped up the MXGP title at Assen over the weekend? Talk about buying a title, right?! More on that can be found in this week’s MXGP Insider column, as well as a preview of the MX2 fight that’s about to go down, and news on Glenn Coldenhoff signing with KTM for season 2016.

Have you checked out Justin Barcia’s new Dirt Shark edit that dropped today? As always, Ash Hodges did a killer job with the filming and editing, so don’t let this one slip off your radar.

Red Bull’s “MX Nation” online-exclusive series has come to an end with a finale that sees Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey claim the 2015 Lucas Oil AMA 450 Motocross Championship crown over RCH Racing Suzuki’s Ken Roczen. You can check out all six magnificently cut episodes right here.

It was a weekend of what could have been for New Zealand’s Josiah Natzke, contesting the final round of the 2015 European EMX125 Championship at the MXGP of Assen. The young teen went into the round a single point behind red plate holder, fellow KTM Factory Junior teammate, Jorge Prado Garcia, but was forced to concede after going 10-19 for 15th Overall. More in this week’s NZ Insider column.

After originally being named as a reserve for the 2015 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), Glenn Kearney will join the squad following the withdrawal of Josh Strang, who will miss the ISDE due to not having his Green Card finalised in time from the United States where he resides. Strang is the second rider to withdraw from the original Australian senior squad, after rally commitments forced Toby Price to pull out and be replaced by Lachlan Stanford. The 2015 ISDE will take place in Kosice, Slovakia from September 7-12.

Speaking of Pricey, he’s currently overseas contesting the Atacama Rally (an FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship round) in preparation for the 2016 Dakar Rally. You can keep up to date with his progress via his social media accounts – just search Toby Price.

Props to Kyle Middleton who claimed the Australian Trials Championship over the weekend. Kyle is currently on his way to Portugal to contest two rounds of the World Trials Championship, before contesting two more in Spain. He will then captain Team Australia at the Trials des Nations, also being held in Spain later this year.
