Yoshimura Suzuki learned Monday that the FIM appeal by James Stewart that might have allowed him to begin racing the upcoming 2015 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship has been denied. Instead, the suspension will remain in place until August 11, 2015.

KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Luke Styke secured his first-ever MX1 Overall win at the third round of the 2015 MX Nationals, held at Broadford in Victoria. After spending the first two rounds on the third step of the podium, Styke proved that consistency pays off, going 1-3 to claim round honours. NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea finished the round in second, while Styke’s teammate, Kirk Gibbs, finished in third.

In the MX2 class, Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout defended his red plate, going 1-1 to secure his second Overall round win for 2015. He shared the podium with teammate, Jed Beaton, and Kawasaki-mounted Takeshi Katsuya. GYTR Yamaha rider, Wilson Todd, claimed his second Overall round win for 2015, and continues to hold on to the MXD (Under 19s) red plate. KTM-mounted rider, Wade Carter, finished in second, while Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Jesse Madden finished in third.

Valkenswaard saw the return of the MXGP class to its 2014 state, with no Americans to hold any interest for those across the pond. And while we’re partly joking, unfortunately, it was true, as the numbers on any website you choose will back it up. More on the topic in this week’s MXGP Insider column.

The second round of the European EMX125 Championship was held over the weekend, in conjunction with the fifth round of the World MXGP series at the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard, Holland. For New Zealand’s Josiah Natzke, it was his first visit to the hard sand-based facility and a complete contrast to the opening round held in Italy a week earlier. In this year’s fiercely contested EMX125 class, starts are absolutely crucial, and in both motos Natzke got stuck in the pack from the gate drop and had to charge his way forward. He managed 12th on Saturday, and 10th on Sunday, and from the two motos ended the weekend in 10th Overall, and fourth in the Overall points standings after two rounds.

Word on the street is that Australia will host the 2017 edition of the Junior World Motocross Championship, with the venue details due to be released in the coming weeks. The famous Digger McEwen Park circuit in Taupo, New Zealand, hosted the 2009 event, and its return Down Under will provide a great opportunity for Kiwi and Australian riders to challenge for World Championship glory closer to home. We’ve been told to expect an official release from the FIM very soon.

The sun shone brightly on the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club (as treacherous weather conditions hammered the Sydney coast everywhere else from Taree to as far south as Nowra) for the second round of the 2015 East Coast MX series, presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine.
