Russell wins fifth consecutive GNCC
The 27th annual Wiseco John Penton GNCC – the seventh round of the 2016 Grand National Cross Country series – took place over the weekend in Ohio. The world’s fastest off-road racers were put to the test, facing hot and humid conditions, but at the end of the gruelling three-hour race, FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Kailub Russell found himself in the middle of the box, securing his fifth consecutive round victory.
Two Australians managed to secure second-place finishes, with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing/Bel-Ray’s Josh Strang crossing the line behind Russell in the XC1 class, and N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Tayla Jones taking home second in the WXC (Women’s) class, finishing behind FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Kacy Martinez. The third Australian racing the round, Daniel Milner, wasn’t able to finish inside the top ten, but sits seventh in the championship standings.
