Ballard’s Rory Mead Fundraiser
New Zealand enduro ace, Rory Mead, suffered a severe spinal injury on March 30 at the third round of the American Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series. The likeable Kiwi – who has been riding for Shane Watts’ Maxxis/KLiM/DirtWise KTM team – underwent surgery to reconstruct the fractured C5 and C6 in his neck.
Wattsy confirmed with Transmoto that Rory has no feeling or movement from his chest down, but that they remain positive as Rory embarks on the long road to recovery. To help with Rory’s medical expenses, the DirtWise team kicked off a Fundraising Raffle on eBay, which generated over $30,000 for him.
Ballard’s Offroad is also currently auctioning items off on eBay to raise funds for Rory. The highlight is the headlight off of his bike that he used while contesting the 2009 Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE).
