ONE SPECIAL SHERCO!

9 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

Sherco’s Australian distributor has decided to go all out and release the first shipments of its all-new 450SEF-Racing model as an up-specced ‘Factory’ machine.

Sherco’s all-new 450SEF-Racing model has taken its sweet time in getting to Oz. After all, this machine saw stage-win success in the 2014 Dakar Rally and was first unveiled to the world’s press 12 long months ago. So, to celebrate the production bike’s belated arrival, Sherco Australia wants to make sure it turns heads. And, aside from the French machine’s keen pricing, the best way to do that is to up-spec a bike’s componentry. And that’s exactly what Sherco Australia has done with the first shipments of this long-awaited 2015-model 450SEF-R. Here’s an excerpt from their PR about the new 450:

The arrival of the highly anticipated Sherco 450SEF-R later this month has been taken to an exciting new level with the first shipment confirmed as limited edition, factory models. The 450SEF-R Factory edition features the new generation Sherco 449.4cc DOHC, four-valve, four-stroke engine fed by Synerject digital EFI.
Sherco Australia Brand Manager, Stephen Tuff, says the new 450 has been a long time coming and is willing to bet it won’t disappoint. “We’re taking our new 450 to every Sherco ride day we have planned around the country, so if you’re curious, then make some time to get along to the ride day and give it a go – you can find the details on our website,” Tuff said.
In keeping with Sherco’s compact and user-friendly features found on all models, is the tool-less air filter access and quality componentry such as Brembo brakes and Trail Tech computer. Combine this with dual-position billet triple clamps and reversible, offset handlebar mounts you have a bike that’s capable of a wide range of adjustment, which is sure to please even the fussiest of rider set-up requirements.

“The first shipments of the Sherco 450 are factory models, which boast full factory features like the full Akrapovic exhaust system, DG2 double-grip seat, translucent fuel tank, solid rear brake disc, ASX bashplate and sleek factory graphics.”

“The Factory edition isn’t just another 450. The turning ability and agility of the bike will make it the envy of its competitors,” Tuff went on to explain. “A strong yet smooth powerplant is transferred to the ground via a six-speed transmission that works seamlessly with a hydraulic clutch. The handlebar-mounted dual-curve ignition map switch offers two engine power output options that can be changed on-the-fly to offer all-out strong powerful performance or a tamer, more user-friendly delivery.”
The powerful and versatile engine is housed in a semi-perimeter chromium molybdenum steel frame mated to 48mm open-chamber USD WP fork and WP linkage shock. The combination of Sherco’s frame and the proven 48mm WP open-chamber fork and WP shock with linkage provides a suspension and handling package that complies beautifully over a vast range of terrain.
The first shipments of the Sherco 450 are factory models, which boast full factory features like the full Akrapovic exhaust system with revised mapping to suit, DG2 double-grip seat, translucent fuel tank, solid rear brake disc, ASX bashplate and sleek factory graphics. With a dry weight of 109kg and capable 8.5-litre fuel capacity, the Sherco 450SEF-R Factory edition is a bike worth serious consideration if you dare to Ride Different.

The Sherco 450SEF-R Factory edition is $14,290 (including GST) and available nationwide from Sherco Dealerships from July 27, 2015. For more information, check out Sherco Australia’s website.
