Milner Dominates Broken Hill AORC
KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Daniel Milner managed to extend his advantage in the 2018 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) following a Round 7 victory over the weekend at Broken Hill, NSW.
Milner topped Saturday’s Prologue with a time of 3m05.796s, narrowly edging teammate Lyndon Snodgrass at the top of the time-sheets and setting the scene for a strong day of competition to follow. Start position would prove key in immensely dusty conditions.
Milner was virtually untouched aboard his KTM 500EXC-F in Sunday’s gruelling Cross Country, making the most of his starting position and navigating the four-hour race to the E3 and Outright win. Lodging a total time of 3h49m56s, in the end his class advantage was a comfortable 12m14.370s.
“Everything went to plan,” commented Milner. “I was lucky enough to win the Prologue, which gave me clean air for the first lap and that was solid. I tried to keep as consistent as I could all day and it paid off in the end. It was extremely dusty, which made things hard, but luckily enough part of the track was in the sandy creek bed and that helped. It made for a fun day, even though the format was so hard – I honestly think it was tougher than Hattah!”
The AORC series will now travel to Kingston SE in South Australia for Rounds 8 and 9 to be contested on September 22-23.
