Joker440 Spray: 5 Best Uses

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Jarrad Duffy

Watching a mate go about his bike maintenance routine can make for fascinating viewing. Some will assure you a soapy sponge in one hand and a cold beer in the other is all that’s required. For others, a blast with a pressure washer and compressed air does the trick. Truth is, most of us fall somewhere in between. After washing our bike, we’ll probably grab a can of brake cleaner, a water dispersant, chain lube, and maybe some sort of silicon spray or plastics rejuvenator.

But when you watch how race team mechanics – guys who clean and maintain bikes every day of their lives – go about the job, you soon realise that your own habits are more like bad habits, and that your bike’s looks and longevity is probably paying the price for it. While leading oil brands have developed a bunch of incredibly effective new products in recent years, we’re still making do with what we did two decades ago.

When a couple of race team mechanic mates put us onto Motorex’s Joker440 Spray a while back, however, our bad habits changed. By using this synthetic lubricant instead of grease on our project bikes’ axles and pivot points, we immediately discovered these components were much less inclined to attract dirt. And that meant less drama with the grinding paste that the combo of dirt and grease soon turns into. That realisation then led to start using Joker440 on several other components – again, with impressive results.

In the wake of these revelations, we contacted the guys at A-One Accessory Imports, who distribute Motorex in Oz, and asked them to shed more light on their jack-of-all-trades Joker440 Spray and its recommended applications. Here’s a snapshot of what the A-One boys said…

WHAT IS JOKER440?

Motorex Joker440 is a powerful, dielectric, lubricating and protective spray with high penetration power to free up moving parts on your motorcycle. This powerful spray penetrates, disperses water, lubricates and protects moving parts from rust and corrosion, reduces friction for effortless use. And best of all, it prevents squeaking!

THE 5 BEST USES FOR JOKER440 SPRAY

1. Protect your engine cases after cleaning
Keeping your engine looking fresh and clean is a simple – yet often overlooked – process when cleaning your motorcycle. Post wash, future-proof your engine cases by applying Joker440 directly to and around your engine to shield it against rust and stains.

2. Prevent pivot points from binding or seizing
Squeaky or binding footpegs, levers and suspension linkages will be a thing of the past. Use Joker440’s precise spray-head to penetrate footpeg pivots, side-stand pivots, clutch and brake lever pivots, swingarm and suspension linkage pivots. Additionally, Joker440 can be used to lubricate wheel axles between changes.

3. Reduce cable friction
Over time, your bike’s clutch, throttle or brakes might become sticky and hard to use. Connect Joker440 to a cable-lubing tool and inject lubricant to reduce friction and prolong the working life of your cables. Additionally, you should always apply Joker440 to your front brake and clutch pivot points for effortless operation.

4. Eliminate electrical corrosion
Connectors exposed to moisture, mud and debris can cause corrosion and poor connectivity. You can avoid poor performance and eventual replacements by applying Joker440 to your bike’s electrical connectors. Joker440 features dielectric properties, which aids the passing of electrical current and protects against corrosion.

5. Protect your tools. Use it in your moto man cave
Use the wide-spray function to apply a protective coating onto your tools. Wrenches, spanners, ratchet and socket sets, and tyre levers; you name it. Joker440 does it all and you’ll be thankful to have it in your moto man-cave. Corroded trailer-light connectors? Joker440. Rusted shed locks? Joker440. Sticky or squeaky rollers? Joker440. Obstinate hinges on your beer fridge’s door? Yep, Joker440!
