Husqvarna’s Champions Injured
The championship-winning Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team has suffered some terrible luck at the front end of the 2018 Pro Motocross season, with their two stars in Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne both being forced out of title contention due to injuries requiring surgery.
Osborne, the recent back-to-back 250SX Champion and reigning 250MX Champion, was involved in a first-turn pile-up during the start of the second moto at the Thunder Valley National in Colorado. Unfortunately, he sustained a torn labrum (shoulder), with his expected recovery time extending past the 2018 Pro Motocross season.
Just weeks after claiming his maiden 450SX crown, Jason Anderson suffered a compound fracture to his right foot after colliding with another rider whilst training at Glen Helen Raceway. His expected recovery time is four to six weeks, so without any complications, he’ll be aiming to return to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at the Unadilla National on August 11, 2018.
In the meantime, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team has enlisted the services of Phil Nicolleti for the remainder of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Australian fans planning on heading to the 2018 edition of the Monster Energy AUS-X Open can rest assured that despite Anderson’s injury, he will still be making his second consecutive trip Down Under to contest this year’s event in Sydney.
“Jason has an incredible riding style that you have to see to believe,” said Event Co-Founder and Director, Adam Bailey. “He is absolutely World Champion for a reason, but he certainly won’t have it all his own way on November 10. Chad Reed is the best Supercross rider ever to come out of Australia – a two-time World Champion and the fourth most successful of all time. Together with current Australian Supercross Champion and world number five Justin Brayton, Justin Barcia and a whole host riders from Australia and the USA, Jason is going to have a serious fight on his hands to try and make it two Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney wins in a row.”
