FMX Insider No.39: Fish Fingered Jam
Transmoto’s weekly web-exclusive column, the FMX Insider, penned by Ben Heidrich.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the true core of any sport is held together by the passion of having a good time. What good is putting your heart and soul into something if you’re not having fun, right? Living life is doing the things you love with your friends and making new ones along the way. Over the weekend, a small community of freestyle motocross riders came together to throw an epic ride day and continue building the scene they love.
The Fish Fingered FMX “Jacko” Jam took place at Jackson Strong’s Motorcycle Complex in Wagga Wagga, NSW, on Saturday May 16. Justin “Bushy” Bush and Jacko put their heads together to create the event. As soon as “Barry Berm Banger” heard the good news, the word was put out via social media. Riders came from far and wide to get amongst the movement.
The motocross track stayed open all day and there was free camping for the riders to stay and check out all the FMX action on Saturday night.
First on the freshly groomed FMX course was Wagga Wagga local, Truman Carroll, followed by Melbourne-based rider, Ryan Brown. The two bounced of each other all day with breathtaking Backflip trains. Young Jake Smith was on fire with big and clean uprights and Flip tricks. Shaun Webb kept everybody on the edge of their seats, getting the bike sideways and hanging off it long into the night.
Jacko and Rob Aldeberg both threw down incredible world-class tricks. Jacko chucked a cheeky Flaming Mullet or two, while Adelberg stomped a California Roll just on sundown. I don’t think I saw Alex Bucholtz put his bike down all day, throwing grab tricks while the party kicked on below.
And what a party is was!
