ECMX: Round 4 Maitland Results

9 years ago | Photos: MX Photo

After postponing the first attempt at running Round 4 of the East Coast MX Series, in May in Maitland, competitors made the trip back to battle at the penultimate round of the championship. The Maitland club provided an awesome venue, the track was prime, the sun was shining, race conditions could not be more perfect.

Now getting into the business end of the year, all the riders were doing the math calculating the championship hopes. Jake Snow (7-u0 50cc) taking the win and Dylan Wood (Junior Lites 250cc 4-stroke) finishing 2nd closed up the championship within just a few points, where other riders like Ryder Kingsford (7-u10 65cc), Rhys Budd (12-u14 85cc and 125cc 2-stroke), Jy Roberts (14-u16 85cc), Blake Fox (9-u12 85cc), and Billy Payne (10-u12 65cc) extended the leads in the championship.

The hunt for points on senior day was similar, with Ryan Butler extending his lead in the Clubman Lites class, but not gaining enough points on Clubman Open Series leader Jaiden Caines due to Ryan Findanis the spoiler on the day sweeping 6 out 6 races in the Clubman Lites and Clubman Open class. Young Vets rider Aiden Porth made his return winning the Vets after missing a round of the Series at Port Macquarie, and Ashleigh McCormick was unchallenged winning the Senior Women in her first event as a senior. Blake Parker won the 2-stroke Cup on the day and narrowed the points gap on Lachlan Holroyd in the Pro Lites and B-grade Cup with consistent finishes. Jordan Hill took the win in the B-grade Cup and managed to take a moto off Joel Whiteman in the Pro Lites, but Whiteman was too strong and won the day in the Pro Lites going 1-1-2.

It was business as usual for Corey James who now has a commanding lead in the Pro Open class. However with all the focus on the points championships, the final round at Mt. Kembla is a double points round which is bound to upset and excite a few competitors, with high possibilities of championships changing hands.
