ECMX: Round 2 Port Macquarie Results

9 years ago | Photos: MX Photo

Emotions were stirred up at the start of the ANZAC weekend for the second round of the 2015 East Coast MX series, presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine, held in Port Macquarie.

For those that didn’t have the chance to attend the Dawn Service at the War Memorial on the Town Green, a ceremony was held at the track on Saturday morning to commemorate 100 years since the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli, lead by former serviceman, Greg Cavanah, and followed by the “Last Post” played on the bugle.

Many of the riders on the podium gave thanks and attributed their effort on race day to the soldiers who fought on the battlefields of Gallipoli, sharing in the ANZAC spirit and their characteristics including endurance, courage and mateship.

The sun shone brightly on the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club as treacherous weather conditions hammered the Sydney coast everywhere else from Taree to as far south as Nowra (our thoughts go out to all those people that have lost loved ones, their homes and belongings).

Close to full grids in some of the classes, the Junior racing got under way. The Kingsford brothers each claimed victory in their respective classes. Billy Payne, Rhys Budd and Riley Dukes have all recently returned from injuries and already found the top step of the podium. Bayley Clancy took his first Overall win and Jake McGlashan rode to Overall victory in the Junior Lites four-stroke class after points leader, Lachlan Torp,y binned it hard in the first corner of the final moto.

Championship standings changed hands in a number of Senior classes on Sunday. Ryan Butler lost points to championship rival, Lachlan Wilson, but still retained the points lead in the Clubman Lites class. Jayden Caines extended his championship campaign, winning all three motos in the Clubman Open class. Brothers in arms, Blake and Michael Parker, battled it out with Blake winning the Pro Lites class, and Michael taking victory in the two-stroke Cup. Corey James, Lachlan Holroyd, Paul Novak and Jordan Leigh Wickham all claimed victory and the championship lead in their classes.

“I don’t say this often enough, but a big thank you to the media crew that follows the East Coast MX series – MXPhoto, On The Pipe Images and guest media at the Port Macquarie round, Just2Wheelz,” commented series promoter, Michel Constantinou. “Also a big thanks to the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club for providing a fantastic venue and organising the ANZAC service.”
