Justin Brayton has continued his dominant form making it three in a row at GMHBA stadium for round 3 of the Australian Supercross Championship. Narrowly edging out Penrite Honda Racing teammate Brett Metcalfe and Yamaha’s Dan Reardon who rounded out the top 3 overall for the premier SX1 class.

In front of an electric crowd, the American took to the chequered flag first in two out of the three main events as riders experienced their first triple crown format of the season. Brayton lead race 1 from start to finish and never looked back showing the fans why he has a stranglehold on the championship Brett Metcalfe and Dan Reardon finishing second and third behind him.

Luke Clout and his KTM Factory Racing machine once again were a rocket ship off the line gaining an early lead in race 2 before a crash on the main straight saw him escorted to Racesafe with a suspected knee injury putting him out for the remainder of the night. Brett Metcalfe checked out for the remainder of the race capitalising on the mistake with Brayton fighting through the pack to take second ahead of Dan Reardon. But it was the number 1 of Brayton who entered the first turn of race 3 in the lead claiming the 100% holeshot and where he would stay for the remainder of the 12 lap main, Metcalfe second with Dylan Long breathing down Reardon’s neck for the entirety of the race to finish a close fourth behind the number 122.

The SX2 class saw Wilson Todd of Serco Yamaha take his maiden round victory at Geelong to make it a 1-2 for the team ahead of Jacob Hayes with Jay Wilson rounding out the overall podium for the night. Aaron Tanti of Complete Parts Kawasaki Racing took the early lead in main event one but would make a crucial mistake in the later stages of the race where Serco Yamaha teammates Todd and  Jacob Hayes would pass and finish 1-2 respectively, Penrite Honda’s Bradley Taft would finish in third.

Red plate holder Jay Wilson who made an early mistake in main event one which left him to finish mid pack would be first over the line in race 2 gaining the lead in the middle of the race from Dakota Alix of KTM Factory Racing who would finish in third behind Bradley Taft. Australian American Hayden Melross made his way back to the top step of the podium in the final main for the SX2 class gaining the lead in the dying stages of the race battling Jay Wilson who finished in second ahead of Todd.

Round 4 of the Australian Supercross Championship heads to Gillman Speedway this weekend October 20th with another triple crown weekend install for the riders.
