The 12th and final round of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship wasn’t short on drama, as the battle for the 450 Class title came down to the final moto of the season. While MXGP star Jeffrey Herlings stole the spotlight by posting a 1-1 sweep of the motos in his Pro Motocross debut, substituting at Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, it was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac who walked away with the coveted #1 plate and hoisted the Edison Dye Cup. Tomac’s path to his first premier class title wasn’t without adversity, including a crash in the first moto and being forced to fight back from a start outside the top 10 in Moto 2. While Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin and RMATV/MC-WPS-KTM’s Blake Baggett each put forth valiant efforts to erase their championship deficits en route to second and third, respectively, Tomac did enough to ensure the title would be his.

In the 250 Class, newly crowned champion and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider Zach Osborne put a dominant finishing touch on his breakout season, bookending the summer with 1-1 sweeps. Osborne’s unparalleled consistency resulted in five wins and overall podium finishes in 11 of 12 rounds.
