Entries now open for the Australasian Safari
Australia’s toughest off-road adventure is back for 2012. In September, competitors will take to outback Western Australia over eight gruelling days for the Australasian Safari.
There are stunning stages planned that will showcase Western Australia’s diverse terrain, and provide a great challenge for competitors.
This year it is expected around 100 riders and drivers will compete, with the addition of a new event, the Safari Challenge, allowing road-registered 4WDs to enter the competition elements of the Safari without the need for a competition vehicle.
What: The Australasian Safari is an eight-day endurance race that sees competitors travel through off-road tracks in outback Western Australia. Considered Australia’s answer to Dakar, the event is renowned as one of the toughest and most challenging motorsport events in the world. Last year, Dakar great, Cyril Despres, competed he struggled in the harsh WA conditions and it was homegrown hero, Todd Smith, who took the crown.
