2018 A4DE: Refresher Course

So you’ve coughed up 570 bucks and entered the 2018 Yamaha Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE) in April. It’s either your first ever 4-Day, or it’s been a while since you raced one, and you’ve suddenly realised you’re in desperate need of crash-course that explains how the hell a multi-day off-road enduro event works.
If that sounds familiar, then listen up because rider training specialists, OffRoad Advantage, is offering a course that’s designed to prepare entrants for everything a 4-Day will throw at them. The course includes insights into time cards, controls, special tests, trail sections, work periods, and a whole lot more; all of which will give riders a good understanding of the rules, and help them get to the finish line in one piece.

According to OffRoad Advantage’s Josh Green – himself a former AORC and A4DE class winner, and member of Australia’s ISDE-winning team – positions are selling fast. “With so many 4-Day first-timers or old enduro riders coming out of the woodwork to race the 4-Day’s 40th anniversary event at its birthplace in Cessnock,” Green explains, “it made a lot of sense to put together a refresher course in the lead-up to the event to help get riders up to speed. Let’s be honest; a multi-day enduro event is complicated and can be a bit intimidating for the uninitiated.

“I only wish a course like this was available when I got into enduro years ago,” Green went on to say. “I remember rocking up at my first 4-Day with my parents and none of us had any idea of how the whole thing worked. We didn’t even realise that each rider needs to organise supporters to help out at controls with fuel and food, or that there’s a work period each day before your bike is impounded in the Parc Ferme overnight. There’s a lot involved with a 4-Day, and the last thing anyone wants is to waste their entry fee simply because they didn’t understand the event’s rules.”

OffRoad Advantage’s full-day A4DE training schools will be staged on February 10 and 11 at Stroud in the Lower Hunter Valley region. They’re capped at 20 people per day, and cost $220. For details or to book, contact OffRoad Advantage via email (joshgreenracing@gmail.com) or phone (0402 276 008).
