It looks as though Chad Reed’s Discount Tire Racing/TwoTwo Motorsports team has signed a new rider for the 2015 season in former JGR/Toyota/Yamaha pilot, Josh Grant. Earlier today, images were posted on Instagram by Reed and One Industries of Grant testing out his all-new Kawasaki KX450F. And as we know, an Instagram post is about as official as a press release is these days. We look forward to seeing the #33 of Grant on the line at Anaheim 1 come January, 2015.

Motorcycling Australia made the official announcement on Thursday that Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout will step in for the injured Dean Ferris to contest the MX2 class for Team Australia at this year’s Motocross of Nations in Latvia, alongside his childhood heroes, Chad Reed (MX1) and Matt Moss (Open). Transmoto’s Johnny Bonnar spoke to Clout today about being selected for the squad, winning this year’s MX Nationals MX2 title and his current plans for season 2015. Read the interview here.

Word on the street is that the Penrite Oil Honda Racing squad will field a four-man squad throughout the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship, kicking off at Bathurst, NSW on October 10. While Jay Marmont is the only rider confirmed at the moment, contesting the Pro Open category is said to be Victorian rider, Lewis Woods. The Pro Lites riders are whispered to be Gavin Faith and Malcolm Stewart, which sounds pretty darn awesome on paper. Transmoto sources tell us that South Australian MXer, Josh Cachia, who contested the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals with Honda’s factory outfit, has exited after an incident at Coolum’s season finale with Team Manager, Yarrive Konsky. We’ll bring you extended details next week. Mookie’s decision to come to Oz later this year may be affected by not being able to race alongside Cachia, as they are close mates (from the days of JDR Motorsports).

We also heard talk earlier this week that Cachia could be contesting the 2014 ASX on board a Privateer Honda, with a 250cc two-stroke engine planted inside a CRF450R frame.

Team Motul Suzuki officially re-signed current two-time Australian MX champ and defending Australian SX champ, Matt Moss, this week. They would have been insane to pass up the opportunity to have Mossy on their side for another year to aim for that three peat.

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen! It’s been confirmed that 30-year-old Travis Pastrana will contest Red Bull’s inaugural Straight Rhythm event aboard a 500cc two-stroke Suzuki. Pastrana will embrace the straight-line moto format alongside 31 of the other best MX/SX racers in the world on October 4. While the official field hasn’t been announced yet, Ryan Dungey, Marvin Musquin, Malcolm Stewart, Cole Seely, Justin Bogle and Jessy Nelson were among last year’s demo riders.

It’s been confirmed by KTM that Jeffrey Herlings will indeed contest Mexico’s FIM Motocross World Championship finale. It would have been a real shame if the 19-year-old missed out on the opportunity to claim his third consecutive MX2 World title. Jordi Tixier’s certainly going to have his work cut out for him on his final KTM outing.

In a record-breaking season, KTM Enduro Racing Team’s Toby Price has become the first rider to win a fourth career AORC title, as the 2014 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championship concluded this weekend at Heathcote in Victoria. Price took a 28-point lead into the double-header finale and put the issue to bed on Saturday with an unlikely win that aptly illustrated just why he is one of Australia’s most respected off-road racers of all time. Price recovered from a poor start to slowly pick his way through the dust and the traffic, eventually breaching a 30-second gap to leader, Active8 Yamaha’s Beau Ralston and wresting the lead away with just two laps to go. Finishing in fourth Outright at Heathcote’s AORC round was Daniel “Chucky” Sanders, who claimed the inaugural Transmoto 19 & Under class title on Saturday. Sanders managed to finish sixth Outright in the championship, and with 297 points, was able to defeat KTM-mounted rider, Broc Grabham (259 points) in the Transmoto 19 & Under class.
