Pastrana & Red Bull Straight Rhythm
Listen up, ladies and gentlemen! It’s been confirmed that 30-year-old Travis Pastrana will contest Red Bull’s inaugural Straight Rhythm event aboard a 500cc two-stroke Suzuki.
“I’ve made a career out of being unprepared,” said Pastrana. “That’s why this is perfect for me. The scariest things are the ones you plan out. That’s the stuff that gets you hurt. This is perfect for me because I’m just winging it.”
Fellow riders, such as James Stewart, are happy to have Pastrana’s spotlight pointed in their direction again. “He’s always been known as a jumper, so this is the perfect format for him,” said Stewart. “Not only can he win the event, but he gives the crowd a thrill at the same time. He can be next to you one minute just riding along, and the next minute he’s doing Backflips.”
Pastrana will embrace the straight-line moto format alongside 31 of the other best MX/SX racers in the world on October 4. While the official field hasn’t been announced yet, Ryan Dungey, Marvin Musquin, Malcolm Stewart, Cole Seely, Justin Bogle and Jessy Nelson were among last year’s demo riders.
