FMX Insider No.24: Aussie Adrenaline
Welcome to our brand new weekly web-exclusive column, Transmoto‘s FMX Insider. Penned each week by South Australian rider, Ben Heidrich, the FMX Insider will present the story-behind-the-stories of the Aussie and international freestyle motocross scenes.
Aussie Adrenaline (AA) is fast becoming one of Australia’s biggest action sports film companies. Working alongside talented riders such as Robbie Maddison, Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams and Josh Sheehan, AA has established itself professionally and passionately.
Aussie Adrenaline, owned and operated by NSW-based filmmaker, Ash Will, started back in 2005 with one of the first digital videos to hit the market. AA now shoots all their videos with the notorious RED EPIC Digital Cinema camera, which is used by the best in action sports. AA’s film style pleases the core motocross audience with their song choices and overall vision.
“We are still under question with what Aussie Adrenaline is completely about as we continue to grow and more opportunities arise,” said Ash. “Most people who are aware of us would relate AA to our videos, but recently we had the opportunity to put on our very own live FMX show. This was a different step into an exciting new direction. We’ve also just released a range of apparel which is available exclusively from our website.”
AA initially started off producing online videos and released their first full-length, self-titled freestyle motocross DVD “Aussie Adrenaline” back in 2007. AA has covered a whole range of different events across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, such as the FMX Battle, Red Bull X-Fighters jams, Crusty Demons, World Extreme Games, Australian Supercross Championships, plus a whole bunch more.
In 2012, they released their second DVD instalment “Choose Your Fate”, which landed international distribution with the best in action sports.
“We’ve worked alongside a lot of very talented athletes and industry personal throughout our journey”, Ash continued. “A lot of whom have truly inspired us as a company and have given us the drive to push our limits.”
To name a few of the riders, there’s Robbie Maddison, Josh Sheehan, Chad Kagy, Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams, Jackson Strong, Clinton Moore, Josh Hill, Matt Moss, Cameron Sinclair; the list goes on.
One of the biggest highlights for AA was filming alongside and collaborating with Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson, the creators of the infamous “Crusty Demons” – on both their films and online series.
This year, AA has been working on a number of different projects. Earlier in 2014, AA flew to China to shoot at the World Extreme Games then went straight into filming an epic section with Russell Brothers Films for Jackson Strong’s feature film “Headstrong”.
Ash spoke on AA’s latest project, “We’ve focused again on producing our own content and have just released our latest creation. It features AA FMX rider, Joel Brown, jumping over Paul Bennet in a moving Stunt Plane. The video has received a great response.”
Keep an eye out for the next wave of Aussie Adrenaline videos featuring the likes of Robbie Maddison, Clinton Moore, Steve Mini, Chucky Norris, Pat Bowden, Luke McNeill and many more.
