2013 Suzuki RM-Z450 Test

The 2013 Suzuki RM-Z450 isn’t much to look at. Cosmetically, it’s relatively unchanged from last year, save the dismal black rear fender and questionable colour scheme of the graphics. However, under the hood of this beast lurk changes that make it a potent race weapon for the motocross enthusiast. Suzuki engineers refined the engine with a lighter piston, DLC-coated piston pin, new and more powerful ECU and a completely new transmission. They massaged the engine mounts to increase rigidity and rider feedback. And they added, for the first time ever on a production 450 motorcycle, KYB’s latest SFF system to provide bump absorption on the front end. The result is a dramatically improved motorcycle capable of winning at the highest level of competition. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Transmoto’s October Issue over the coming weeks to view a complete test on the new machine.
